Google Gears在上周已经发布了最新的版本0.3，支持Firefox 3了。

另外转述了CNet所提及Gears 0.3的另外两个新功能: 支持blog和地理定位（geolocation）：

The blob module lets a Web browser handle a large chunk of data in pieces, for example, uploading a large video bit by bit to better protect against unreliable network connections. The geolocation module gives browsers abilities to use data about where exactly a person using the Web is located, but Google hasn’t worked out exactly how to handle the privacy implications of that work. – CNet

也就是说，通过blog模块，来处理大数据（比如视频）。通过geolocation使得浏览器有能力获知使用者的地理位置（不过这可能有隐私问题）。

通过连接下载Gears 0.3的安装文件，安装以后重启Firefox，我的Google Reader已经出现绿色的go offline图标了。

今天用了下绿色版的fox3.是深度软件论坛的。星大版本。可是内置的扩展插件的选项是暗色的。而且一打开我的

blog,出现enable的时候，点击就崩溃，只能关进程。禁用了就好了。

纳闷。。要是FF加上google gears。那速度肯定肯快。等待解决。

WP-Plugin推荐: WP Turbo

这个插件是istef编写的。近期我一直在关注。作者本人更新的很频繁。

WP-Turbo 能够让你的 WordPress 更加快，它能够把当前主题和所有使用的插件的所有静态文件（包括图片，CSS 和 JS 文件）使用 Google Gears 保存到本地。

WP-Turbo 只要上传激活即可。然后到 manage => WP Turbo 页面生成静态文件列表。

WP Turbo，将Google Gears技术应用到WordPress的前台界面上，加速你的Blog。

为什么要开发 WP Turbo 这个插件呢？坦率的说，开发这个插件的灵感来源于 Wordpress 2.6 后台中的加速功能。WP 自从武装了 TinyMCE 之后后台速度变得非常慢，其中重要原因就是过多的 HTTP 请求拖慢了速度。通过 Turbo 这个功能，让所有的静态文件都通过本地来读取，整个后台的速度一下子就快了起来。用 Google Gears 来加速 Web 2.0 应用，这恐怕也是 Gears 被开发出来的一个原因。

但是，只是后台快了明显还不够，因为我们的访客是无法体验到这些好处的。对于我们 Blogger 来说，大多数还是用着不怎么样的服务器或者国外服务器，这样的线路条件显然会拖慢站点的访问速度。为了提高速度，很多 Blogger 不惜牺牲页面的美观性来换取更快的打开速度，这显然有悖于博客崇尚个性化的宗旨。

为了解决这个问题，我首先想到的就是 Google Gears。其实最初我只想给我的模板添加个 Turbo 功能，但后来觉得这个功能需求应该还是很广泛的，就把它做成了一个插件。这个插件就是 WP Turbo
